Burgundy Bow Ties
From deep wine through to lighter ruby shades, a burgundy bow tie adds a hint of colour without ever shouting. Classic, distinguished, and a colour that has never really gone out of style. Handmade to order in Britain.
Burgundy, wine and dark red
The shades do different jobs. True burgundy carries a hint of brown and is the most versatile against grey and navy. Wine is deeper and cooler, and suits an evening event. Ruby and dark red lean brighter, which reads as bolder against a black dinner jacket. Our dark red range covers the deepest end.
When to wear it
Burgundy is the anchor colour of autumn and winter weddings, and one of the few strong shades that works just as well in a boardroom. It’s also the most common substitute for black at a black tie optional event, formal enough not to look like a mistake, different enough to be a choice.
Plain and patterned
Plain burgundy satin for formal wear, and striped, spotted and patterned designs where you want more. Velvet is worth considering here in particular: it pulls the colour deeper and matte, which suits winter tailoring far better than a satin sheen. See our velvet range.
Self-tie or pre-tied, both adjustable to a 14″ to 19″ neck. Most designs match across a tie and pocket square in the same fabric.
